I am Auctioning My Amethyst and Diamond Ring!

Appraised on 5/31/02, it reads: "Ladies 14 k white gold Amethyst and diamond ring set as follows. The center stone is an oval shaped genuine Brazilian cut Amethyst set with four prongs and measures approximately 23 x 18mm and is a medium light tone of purple.

There are four illusion set round brilliant cut diamond side stones, two on each side of the center stone with a estimated total weight of forty points, the color is estimated to be G - H and the clarity average is S12 - 11. The mounting weight with the stones is 7.77 dwts. $1,050.00."

When I decided that I would try to sell this jewelry on the bay. I soon realized, after many attempts, that I could not compete with the real jewelers that were selling items from their stores. I was just spending too much in fees. Plus, I am not an expert on jewelry and cannot take returns. I wouldn't know if a diamond was replaced with a zirconium before making it back in the mail! Not that I don't trust people but I don't want a scammer to claim that they mailed my original piece when they surely have not! Again, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference!

I still would like to sell them because I have no need of them any longer. I have two adult sons and they would have no use of my jewelry. I thought about taking them to a pawn shop but that will be my very last resort. I will send a copy of the appraisal with the ring.

I sell a lot of used, older and garage sale items. Items which, often times, have been in someone's attic or basement for a long time. On occasion I, also, sell items for friends. I try to describe items as best as I can but I do not scrutinize their life styles to find out if they smoke now or quit 10 years ago. Paper and cardboard items can hold noxious odors for a long time. I simply take the item, try to clean it without damaging it and list it for them or myself. Also, I am the proud owner of two Cats. It is quite possible that a wayward cat hair or dander might come into contact with an item I might be selling or packing. So, if you have an aversion to the above PLEASE DO NOT BID on my auctions.
